September Briefings

• Decisions made at the September Leland Bridge Monthly meeting: Leland Bridge Night will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009. Performance sign up is due on Dec.15, 2008. Mandatory audition is on Jan. 10, 2009. Volunteer sign up is due on Jan. 10, 2009.
• 9/6 Annual welcome picnic was very well attended. Our guest speaker, Mrs. Tseng's talk on "how to optimize the success for college admission" held many parents' attention and received much appreciation for providing helpful information and tips.
• 9/11 Principal Liz Chamberlin hosted a kick-off joint meeting for Parent Club, Leland Bridge and Booster Club. The idea is that the administrators and the different groups will share information and file reports.
• 9/12 Chat with Principal was well attended. Many parents came and expressed their opinions and had their questions answered. Liz explained the idea behind the new Bell schedule ( begins on Monday Jan. 5, 2009) is so all teachers will have a buildt -in collaboration time for curriculum strategies and planning.The students will be dismissed early but can remain at school to attend college presentations, work on group project, do community service and so on.
• 9/18 Back to School Night, Leland Bridge set the table next to Parent Club; our board member helped Parent Club's membership drive effort.
• 9/27 "Outclass the Competition" seminar by Betty Chu was a big success. About 90 students and Parents attended. It was a fun, informative event enjoyed by all participants.
